Baby Photography | Kid Portraits
This was my first baby photography shoot, essentially the point where I was ready for rubber to hit the road, after months of preparation. I was ready to jump into my first photo assignment – Shooting pictures of a seven year old, as part of my baby photography portfolio.
As luck would have it, one of the main lenses needed for baby photography was on a loaner to a friend, so I decided to improvise with what I had. I did miss my original lens, but the shoot turned out alright, as a matter of luck.
Konark is an extremely active, soccer playing boy, and we had planned to begin the photo shoot outdoors in the community park. As all growing boys his age are (I guess!!) he got conscious of the fact that we’ll be running around him playing with a camera in hand, so he flat out refused to step out of the apartment. This was the first hiccup, considering we weren’t really prepared for an indoor-only shoot (read: soft boxes, multiple flash guns et al! )
Anyways, one of my lenses happens to have a huge aperture and that sort of saved the day. Bumping up the ISO a little, I followed my model around the home, his room, skateboarding his way through out.
He became very good friends with me, in the end, and I think that’s because he liked the pictures.
